Blackjack

In online blackjack there is a dealer and usually between 1 and 4 players. The player places his bet on the table and then the dealer deals the first cards. Each player receives two cards which are shown to all. The dealer also receives two cards but only one of them is face up. The goal with blackjack is to get the total sum of 21 or closer to 21 than the dealer, which is also a blackjack player. The player can ask for as many cards as he likes, “hit”, or he can choose to “stand” at any time. If the players sum is closer to 21 than the dealers he wins his bet times two, if the player hits blackjack he gets another 50% of the original bet. If your first two cards include an A and a 10 you have a blackjack hand. Black jack beats all other cards even when the dealer hits 21 with several cards. Ten, Jack, Queen and King are considered as a ten, cards 2-10 are what they are and Ace is counted as 1 or 11. If you don’t hit blackjack with your first two cards you have basically two options. Note that the dealer must hit if he has 16 or below and must stand if he has 17 or up.

You can double your original bet if you don’t hit the blackjack after two cards, you will then only receive one more card and then stand. A typical double-bet scenario is when your total sum after two cards is 11, and then you will hit 21 if a 10 is dealt and you have a great chance to double your money.

Split. If you have two cards of the same value you are allowed to split your hand and play two hands against the dealer instead of one. You need to bet the same amount on the second hand as you did on the first. If the two cards you split are Aces and you hit a 10 it is considered as 21, not blackjack. You can only split a hand once.

If the dealers face up card is an Ace you are allowed to place an insurance bet, which is half the sum of your original bet. If the dealer hits blackjack you will double your insurance bet but lose your first one. If he doesn’t hit blackjack you will double your original bet but lose the insurance.
